What Rashidoon Means
Our brand name, Rashidoon, refers to the highest level of being for a Muslim successfully navigating through life.  The root word rushd signifies a deep understanding resulting in appropriate and wise action in handling one’s affairs.  In Arabic, a group of people with rushd are called rashidoon. Our mission is to help every Muslim reach the level of rushd as they strive to become from among the rashidoon.


Why We Exist?
Rashidoon exists for one simple reason: to empower individuals to achieve holistic personal growth that comes from experiencing Allah.

We sensed a serious, two-fold lack in the Islamic education currently being offered to the public where there is an exclusive focus on a superficially academic approach to profound concepts and a reductionist emphasis on external actions even when they are experienced as empty or meaningless. Concepts like taqwa, patience, thankfulness, and tawakkul are profound patterns of being that we are meant to experience rather than merely process intellectually or demonstrate singularly in external behavior.


This is where Rashidoon comes in.


We wanted to address this deficiency by offering unique learning experiences that help our students engage with Islamic teachings at all levels of their being. We design and deliver our content in ways that optimize their chances of experiencing the profound aspects of faith on a personal level. We aim to assist our students to live in these profound meanings rather than just acquiring knowledge about them. We seek to take our students on a journey where they experience Allah first-hand rather than merely being offered information about Him.


Our aim is to mentor and accompany Muslim individuals on their journey of becoming closer to Allah in heart, mind, and actions.

Without depth and genuine experience, learning ceases to yield practical outcomes, but profound learning produces the fruits of practicality and empowerment. This is our belief, and this is the gap we seek to fill.

Our Unique Contribution

Rashidoon specializes in deep and holistic learning that leads to real transformation in our students and supporters. We seek to equip our students with a practical understanding of themselves, life, and how Islam empowers them to deal with life in constructive ways.


Having a rich, intimate experience with Allah is key in the Rashidoon personal growth model, and all our offerings revolve around meeting this core aim. Islam is not merely a set of instructions. It engages our inner dimension first and foremost to nurture a beautiful human essence from which guided action flows naturally.



Rashidoon’s Model

Rashidoon builds on an integrative model of the human self that is primarily based on Quran and hadith. The features of this model appear in a semi-clear fashion in the writings of Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn al-Qayyim. A great deal of the theories and writings of these two giants seem to draw on a comprehensive model of human functioning. We have been working for 15 years to elicit this model and formulate it in a straightforward manner that makes its rich applications accessible to those interested in developing themselves according to an authentic Muslim model instead of one of the many other models currently available.


According to this Islamically based model, humans are made of original components, namely the soul and body. Then, there are what we can call added components (like the ‘aql) and emerging features (like the nafs). How these components function individually and collectively is an intriguing investigation that offers tremendous tools for understanding and influencing human behavior.  At Rashidoon, we have been analyzing this model for more than a decade and felt it was time to bring this to a wider audience and apply the model to different aspects of the human experience.

Our Logo

The Rashidoon logo represents the multidimensional nature of the human experience. Our inner and outer aspects contribute to who we are. Integrating all the dimensions of our being in a balanced and healthy way is key for optimal personal growth. The seed of goodness lies at the very core of our being; thus, the Rashidoon logo displays a source of light at the very centre of the two contraposed squares. The square motif mimics the basic patterns found in early Islamic art signifying tradition, while the modern graphics convey Rashidoon’s relevance to modern times.
